Road Opener is used to clear the way to whatever you want/need. It's used to pave the path by aligning opportunities, creating connections, initiating action, providing advantages, and synchronizing timing.
To borrow something from the game of golf—think of road opener work as that which is done to tee-up the ball so that you can then come in, take your swing, and make the hole-in-one. However, not just that, now you have a nice wind at your back, and the hole is made even larger. You're still playing the game, you still have to use your skill, but now you have some advantages that you didn't have before. So, what before was possible, but would take some work, is now made even easier and likely to come to pass.
Block Buster work, on the other hand, is used when there is a literal or spiritual wall between you and what you want/need. That wall may be a person/enemy, a belief, a policy, a law, a hiring freeze, poor credit, bad economy, lack of support, distance, a record, a situation...What you want or need will not come to pass—is unlikely to near impossible—without something very significant changing. Obviously, block buster work is more intense, harder, usually takes longer, and requires very consistent effort and focus.
Block Buster work is used to create that change/break down that wall, and once that wall is broken down, you then come in with some road opener work to clean up the rubble that is on that path that has now been created.
In my experience, 90% of the time, you are just going to need a little uncrossing work, then some road opening work, and then you are good to go on your way to achieving what you want. If you have already done those two (uncrossing and road opening), and things are looking insurmountable, or you already know you have a hard case, then you bring in the block buster work.
Lastly, with block buster work, it may be of benefit to actually have some else do that work for you, because you may be part of the problem/you may be getting in your own way.
