PREPARING AN HERBAL TEA SPIRITUAL BATH FOR CLEANSING, REVERSING, ETC.
- Take a regular bath or shower to physically clean your person.
- Ahead of time, prepare a “tea” from your packet of herbs by placing them in a muslin bag or strainer ball and then placing the bag or ball in a pot of water that has just begun to boil. Alternately, you can just pour the herbs directly into the pot of boiling water, but remember to strain them out before adding the tea to your bath. (Some say that the herbs can be added directly to the bath—skipping the boiling pot of water entirely—but we don’t feel that gets the most out of the herbs.)
- Turn off the heat and let the herbs steep for about 30 minutes. The herbs can steep longer if you wish, but certainly no less than 30 minutes to make sure that their essences have had an opportunity to infuse the water.
- Pray over the herbal tea as it steeps. Ask that the herbs help you in accomplishing whatever goal you have in mind. If you have a petition, then recite it as well. The 37th Psalm or 91st Psalm are traditional for an Uncrossing bath. The 23rd Psalm is also a good go-to. Use any words of power or prayer with which you are comfortable; appeal to your higher power.
- Strain the tea and add a third of it to a prepared bath of warm water. If a muslin bag or straining ball is doing the straining for you, it may be taken out of the pot and set aside, or it can be transferred to the bath along with the herbal tea.
- Later, remove the spent herbs from the strainer or muslin bag and place them under a bush or tree, with your thanks.
- Refrigerate the remaining tea to be used for the next two consecutive day’s baths (bathe three days in a row and 13 days in a row for a full uncrossing cycle). Just add the tea directly to the bathwater before bathing.
TAKING A SPIRITUAL BATH FOR THE PURPOSES OF UNCROSSING (For Example)
- Prepare the bathing area by placing a white candle on either side of the entrance to the bathtub. Light the candles. Fetch an empty bowl, to catch bathwater in, and place it within arm’s reach of the tub.
- Draw a bath of only a couple inches of warm water. Add the herbal tea to the bathwater and stir it in.
- Step into the bathtub through the lit candle “gateway,” and then remain standing. You may sit if standing is awkward, but bear in mind that this is not a “soaking” bath. You want to remove the spiritual “dirt,” not soak in it, but do what you can.
- Using the bowl, pour the water over your head and body (work from head to toe) and use your free hand/wash cloth to sweep down your person, as if you are brushing dust off of your body. Say, “I remove this condition from me and I restore a right spirit within me.” Don’t forget to brush off the soles of your feet, as well. You will also repeat your choice of Psalm or petitions as you sweep down your body—13 repetitions is customary, but not necessary.
- When finished bathing, use the bowl to reserve some of the used bathwater; set the bowl aside. Drain the rest of the water.
- Step out of the bathtub, backwards, and again through the lit candles. Extinguish the candles.
- Air-dry (do not towel-off) and then dress in light-colored clothes. Traditionally, the air-drying time is used for the recitation of prayers, petitions, or scripture for those who are so inclined or are particularly dedicated to the work.
- Take the bowl outside and throw the water towards the direction that supports the intention of the work. Throw over your left shoulder and towards the sunset (just before sunset) to remove something from you e.g., to uncross; throw over your left shoulder and towards the sunrise (just before sunrise) to draw something to you e.g., to draw love. Alternately, the water may be poured out, in the same manner, at a crossroads, for either type of work.
TAKING A SPIRITUAL “BATH” IN A SHOWER STALL OR GALVANIZED TUB
Shower Stall: Place a white candle on either side of the shower entryway. Light the candles. Dilute with water the day’s portion of the spiritual bath “tea” in a wash basin and bring the basin into the shower with you. Gather your thoughts and then pour the preparation over your head, catching some of the water in the basin as it runs off of your body. Put the basin aside, and then sweep down your body with your hands (as detailed above). Continue with the rest of the steps as detailed.
Galvanized Tub: Treat the galvanized tub just as if it were a normal bath tub and proceed as detailed above.
